This paper summarizes the results presented at the 20th IAEA Fusion Energy Conference 2004 in the sessions of confinement, plasma-wall interaction and innovative confinement concept. The highlights of the presentations are as follows. Long pulse operation with high beta and high bootstrap fraction much longer than the current diffusion time has been achieved. The discharge scenario optimization and its extrapolation towards ITER have progressed remarkably. Significant progress has been made in understanding of global confinement and transport physics.

In the FNCA Coordinator Meeting held on March 2002, "Survey of the Basic Data on HRD in the Nuclear Field" was proposed as the first step for developing the HRD strategy by producing the quantitative data on HRD in nuclear field. The first results were reported during the 2002 FNCA Workshop on HRD held on October 2002. The survey results were analyzed in 2003, and summarized as "Summary of the Survey Data". It was reported during Workshop in 2003. The report consists of the updated data until early 2004 of the summary data.

Summary of linac

Hasegawa, Kazuo

no journal, ,

A major goal of the mini-workshop will be to discuss the commissioning of high intensity accelerators. A broad range of topics to be discussed will include the preparation of commissioning a new project, experience in commissioning existed projects, advanced techniques used in beam diagnostics during machine physics, rules and methods to control the beam loss, etc. At the workshop, commissioning of the linacs for several facilities such as J-PARC, CSNS, C-ADS and SNS will be presented. This talk summarizes the linac part of this workshop.
